HoSt developed the manure mono-digester, also known as a manure biogas plant or manure anaerobic digestion (AD) plant, especially for agriculturists and farmers who want to process manure from their own farm to produce renewable energy. In a profitable way, the manure is anaerobic digested in the proven wide-scale digester and converted into RNG (Renewable Natural Gas). Depending on the company size and the availability of straw manure or agricultural co-products, 24.92 SCFM (Standard Cubic Feet / Minute) of RNG can be produced. Then, the RNG with natural gas quality can be supplied to the natural gas network or can be converted to CNG that is suitable to be used as transport fuel. Renewable electricity production is also possible with this system.
The 100% manure digestion plant is suitable for nearly all scales of anaerobic digestion of manure at agricultural companies and farms where daily fresh cattle manure is available. The plants efficiency is already optimal for livestock farms and agricultural companies with a manure production off merely 270,000 ft3 , which is equal to about 350 cows. But trough various scientific studies aimed at the US market, HoSt is able to guarantee that our developed concepts are also appliable to farmers with 1,500 to 15,000 cows.
To complete the renewable energy process and deliver biogas installations turn-key, HoSt works together with biogas upgrading specialist Bright RNG for the supply of biogas upgrading systems and offers their well-proven biogas upgrading systems starting at 25 SCFM to upgrade raw biogas to a methane-rich product gas, also known as renewable natural gas (RNG) or green gas. By applying highly efficient membranes, the so-called membrane technology, the separation of methane from biogas can reach an efficiency of more than 99.5% and render RNG suitable for injection in the national grid or compression to CNG. The CO2 that is removed from the biogas can be recovered and liquefied to create an extra source of revenue for the plant owner.

The 100% manure digester requires a high amount of heat for heating the manure to 104 °F, which is the ideal temperature for anaerobic digestion of manure. During severe winter conditions, this could lead to a lack of sufficient heat provision. The 100% manure plants of HoSt have a very low heat consumption due to complete isolation including the patented insulated double membrane roof, guaranteeing minimal heat loss. This way, the manure is anaerobically digested under the best possible conditions to produce raw biogas.
