ワビコ嫌気性消化プラントへの研究協会の要素を含むフィールドトリップ
Students of the C.T.S.G. Alembic study association from the University of Twente went with process engineers of HoSt on an educational field trip to the Wabico plant in Waalwijk. Wabico, which stands for Waalwijkse Biomass Combination, is an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant, commercially operated by HoSt and used for research and development of new AD technologies.
It’s the art of a HoSt study field trip: offering students a glimpse into future career possibilities as process engineer or chemical engineer. This is exactly what HoSt offered the chemical engineers and process engineers in the making during this day. A great opportunity to get a better idea of the responsibilities of a process engineer, and to get to visit one of the most advanced biogas sites in the world. Alembic is the study association of the bachelor programme Chemical Science and Engineering and the master Chemical Engineering at the University of Twente.

Wabico
Due to the combination of different innovative techniques deployed on site, Wabico is a very advanced biogas facility. The plant is located at the ‘Ecopark’ in Waalwijk, Netherlands. The Ecopark is a unique initiative for sustainable energy in the Netherlands and is one of the biggest ecoparks in the country. Three types of large scale renewable energy installation are operated within the park: solar energy, wind energy and biogas.
