Design a furnace for RDF  

Internship assignment: design (parts of) a furnace for RDF by modelling the heat- and mass transfer and develop a design based on these models.

 

Your profile:

  • Studying Mechanical Engineering / Process Technology
  • Interested in application of Thermodynamics
  • Practical, hands-on mindset

Your tasks:

  • Familiarize yourself with design principles of firing RDF in a adiabatic furnace and in a partly cooled furnace.
  • Study the “design model in development” for a RDF-furnace in PPSD.
  • Develop a design for local heat extraction from the furnace and re-use of this heat by preheating of combustion air.
  • Implement your design in the PPSD-model and verify results.
  • Work out a detailed design for parts of the furnace together with your colleagues of HoSt Engineering.
