FIRST BIOMETHANE INJECTED INTO GAS GRID IN TWEEDE EXLOËRMOND

This week the first biomethane was injected into the Dutch natural gas grid at a project in Tweede Exloërmond, the Netherlands. The biogas plant has been producing electricity over the past ten years and has recently been converted by HoSt to a green gas installation that upgrades 770 Nm³/hr biogas to 500 Nm³/u biomethane. The biogas upgrading has been supplied by Bright Biomethane.

Biomethane is identical to natural gas, but has as major advantage that it is a carbon dioxide (CO2) emission saving alternative to natural gas. The transition of producing electricity to producing green gas has become a significantly important one for the future and biomethane share in the European energy mix is growing as more and more plants inject biomethane into the national grid.
