Biogas can be upgraded to biomethane with the use of a biogas upgrader, and renewable heat can be produced from waste wood. The use of HoSt as an Energy as a Service Company is an ideal solution when you don’t wish to invest in and own and operate a bio-energy facility yourself but still would like to acquire sustainable heat (and electricity) against economically attractive prices or when you wish to outsource your biogas upgrading activities. Additionally, HoSt Energy as a Service also offers the possibility to collectively offtake the renewable gas or heat. HoSt Heat & Power as a Service

HoSt Heat as a Service, is your ideal solution when you’re searching for renewable heat derived from sustainable biomass in the most economically profitable way without investing or operating a facility yourself. For companies with a large heat consumption (5MWth-25MWth) and with high energy costs, heat as a service from HoSt is an ideal service model to reduce energy and ETS costs while increasing the sustainability of your business. As an Energy as a Service Company HoSt ensures the development, permitting, financing, and construction of a biomass-fired boiler or CHP as well as owning- and operation of the system. HoSt will provide you with sustainable energy: ranging from hot water to high pressure steam, but also the additional direct delivery of sustainable electricity is possible with a CHP system. Sustainable heat delivered by HoSt is used to power for example district heating systems, greenhouses, the food industry, or the chemical industry. HoSt can step in as an energy supplier for renewable energy delivery. Additionally, HoSt will take care of biomass procurement, operation, maintenance and ensure high availability of the heat delivery, with 24/7 service and maintenance availability, high availability is ensured. Heat & Power as a Service

Within this service model, HoSt finances, owns and operates the biomass- or biowaste-fired boiler/CHP delivering you sustainable heat in the most profitable way. With Heat as a service, HoSt provides you with long-term security regarding sustainable heat delivery which can vary from hot water to high pressure steam. Heat as a service from HoSt can be combined with sustainable electricity delivery when a biomass-powered CHP is deployed. HoSt steps in as an ESCO, thus as an energy supplier for (collective) heat/power offtake. The renewable heat and power will make your company less dependent on fossil fuels and will reduce your CO₂-tax and/or EU-ETS cost. With HoSt HaaS, the company does not require an economic investment in the biomass- and waste-fired boiler plant, yet the company still reaps the benefit of sustainable heat and electricity: reducing your dependence on expensive and volatile fossil fuels and reducing your carbon emissions.

Within this service model, Biogas is sold to HoSt and converted into high-end renewable end products such as biomethane, renewable natural gas, liquid food grade CO₂, and other high-end renewable valuables with the bioenergy plant. With HoSt Biogas contracting as a Service you can focus on your core business, while HoSt will ensure your biogas is upgraded to high valuable sustainable end products. Energy as a Service projects of HoSt

Grolsch | Biogas take-off to produce biomethane

Grolsch beer with its distinguished green colour became even ‘greener’ now Royal Grolsch – in addition to using sustainable heat from Twence – also chose the biogas contracting service model from HoSt. HoSt offtakes the biogas from the Grolsch wastewater treatment plant and upgrades this biogas to biomethane which is injected into the natural gas grid. HoSt will annually produce and inject over 1 million Nm3 of biomethane using biogas from Grolsch. A regional cooperation for a greener beer brewing process and a greener regional gas network, resulting in a more sustainable industry while at the same time enabling the production of biomethane which will replace 1 million cubic meters of natural gas annually. This sustainable alternative for fossil natural gas supplies renewable gas equivalent to the yearly consumption of approximately 700 households.

Andijk & Bemmel | Purchasing renewable heat

In Bemmel and Andijk in the Netherlands, greenhouse horticulture companies collectively purchase renewable heat directly from HoSt. For this purpose, HoSt realized a 15 MWth biomass-fired heat and power plant in Andijk and one in Bemmel. The heat and power plant is fired with wood waste from the area and replaces the old gas boiler, allowing the greenhouses to become more sustainable and independent of fossil fuels.
