At a large pepper nursery in Beetgum, a company with a rich family history, can be found one of the most sustainable wood-fired combined heat and power plants in the Netherlands. HoSt was responsible for the design, supply and commissioning of the installation and also provides 24/7 service and maintenance. So far, the concerned pepper nursery is the only grower in the Netherlands that both supplies its greenhouses with heat produced by the CHP and electricity to the national grid. The amount of 160 cubic metres wood chips are combusted daily.
The pepper nursery company expanded in 2006 from from 3 to 7 ha. greenhouses with peppers. Meanwhile, the company has grown to 11 hectare of greenhouses, all being heated by the wood-fired CHP, engineered by HoSt.
