At BIR in Lichtenvoorde (Netherlands), HoSt built the first biogas plant in the Netherlands that runs on industrial waste streams exclusively.
The installation was built in two phases. The first phase was completed in 2004. The focus of this installation was the digestion of liquid input streams. The second phase was completed in 2007. Besides the expansion of the capacity of the complete installation, a demonstration project for the digestion of slaughterhouse waste was created.
In the second phase, a pre-treatment unit for chicken waste was placed. The installation then only processed slaughterhouse waste for half a year.
