ISHIGAKI ISLAND, JAPAN: FIRST HOST BIOGAS PLANT IN JAPAN
Construction of HoSt’s first biogas project in Japan is expected to start in the second quarter of 2021. The biogas plant will be realized on the remote Ishigaki Island, also known as Ishigakijima. With a feedstock capacity of 10,000 tonnes of manure, sludge and grass per year, the biogas plant will produce approximately 2 million Nm3 of biogas. Renewable heat and power is produced from the biogas by applying a 550 kW combined heat and power (CHP) system.
The biogas plant is furthermore equipped with a mixing/dosing bin of 80 m2 with input screws. The organic biomass feedstock is received in two 100 m3 pre-storage tanks before entering the digester. The remaining digestate from the process is sanitated at 55 degrees Celsius.
