In Choroszcz, in north-eastern Poland, a wood-fired boiler of 4 MWt has been realised in 2008. About 14,000 MWh is produced annually from 5,000 tonnes untreated and clean virgin wood chips with a high moisture level produced from forestry and sawmill activities to provide district heating to the city district heating network.

The installation has low maintenance cost due to the smart simplicity of the provided solution. The city heat supplier is able to supply the energy with very competitive cost level. A well-planned maintenance program avoids unnecessary down time or costly repairs. The project is equipped with a very sophisticated control system. The boiler is highly efficient due a low temperature of the fumes.
