Pig innovation centre Sterksel is, in cooperation with the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), a research and innovation centre for renewable energy and pig farming. A biogas plant was already built, after which HoSt built a new digester with a solid feeding system and CHP unit.
This new digester is integrated with the existing plant. HoSt has added a new control system so that the whole system is easier to operate.
The plant produces 2.9 million kWh electricity per year.
|Start Construction||November 2008|
|Input||50% pig manure; 50% residual|
|Digester(s)||1 x 2,200 m³|
|CHP(s)||1 x 364 kWe|
|Pre-storage/receipt||Linking with existing installation|
|Solid Feeding input||30 m³ mixing/dosing bin with input screws|
- Expansion of existing biogas plant
- New higher-level controller for entire plant
